Park & Trail Alerts

Rain, wind and flooding can temporarily close sections of trails and sometimes our parks. Visitors are encouraged to check for updates before their visit and to follow all posted trail and parking area closing signs. For safety reasons, trails are closed to all users while trail crews are using equipment to complete repairs and maintenance. The following list reflects the most up to date trail closings and construction projects as of  January 2021.

Special Notice: The controlled burn of the prairie at Mary Virginia Crites Hannan Park has been rescheduled for after the 17th of November.


Canal Park

Status Alert – Open but Main Park Closed for Construction

The construction of the Canal Park playground and handicap ramp has begun as well as repairs to the shelter house. Please use the Canal Road Pickaway Trail Parking or the South Towpath Trail Entrance to access the trails. We ask that you avoid the main parking lot during construction and please do not park in front of the gate as it will be used as an entrance for the equipment. Learn More about this project here.

Roundtown Trail

The trail is Currently not open from S.R. 104 to Sisk Road due to the trail not having a bridge connection at Lick Run.

Scioto Darby Road Big Darby Creek Access

To protect our National Scenic River, which is home to several endangered and threatened species, and to minimize habitat disturbance please do not paddle when flow is below 150 CFS. Please check Here and look for the number after “Discharge, cubic feet per second : Most recent instantaneous value:” before planning a float.
