Park & Trail Alerts

Rain, wind and flooding can temporarily close sections of trails and sometimes our parks. Visitors are encouraged to check for updates before their visit and to follow all posted trail and parking area closing signs. For safety reasons, trails are closed to all users while trail crews are using equipment to complete repairs and maintenance. The following list reflects the most up to date trail closings and construction projects.



Canal Park

The main parking lot, shelter house and boardwalk is now open at Canal Park. the Playground area will remain closed during construction. You can learn more about the playground project here.

Roundtown Trail

Pickaway Trail

Status Alert – Open

The trail will be closed periodically as the neighboring farm operation runs their irrigation machines, harvests or plants. Contact [email protected] or 7404205451 for more information

The trail is Currently not open from S.R. 104 to Sisk Road due to the trail not having a bridge connection at Lick Run.


Metzger Preserve

Scioto Darby Road Big Darby Creek Access

Status Alert – Open

To protect our National Scenic River, which is home to several endangered and threatened species, and to minimize habitat disturbance please do not paddle when flow is below 150 CFS. Please check Here and look for the number after “Discharge, cubic feet per second : Most recent instantaneous value:” before planning a float. The site will also be closed November through April due to low flow.


Cooks Creek Nature Preserve

Status Alert – Closed

Cooks Creek will remain closed to the public until late 2023. You can learn more about this project here.
