Park & Trail Alerts

Rain, thunderstorms, and flooding can temporarily close sections of trails and sometimes Canal Park. Visitors are encouraged to check for updates before their visit and to follow all posted trail and parking area closing signs. For safety reasons, trails are closed to all users while trail crews are using equipment to complete repairs and maintenance. The following list reflects the most up to date trail closings and construction projects as of  June 30th, 2020.


Pickaway Trail

Status Alert – Closed

The Pickaway Trail from Canal road to S.R. 104 will be closed beginning August 3rd, 2020 until the end of September to be paved. Please do not attempt to utilize the trail while it is closed for any reason. For updates on the paving process please follow us on social media.

Covid- 19 Updates

Per the order issued by the State Health Director Friday, July 9th, 2020, Pickaway County is designated as a Level 3 Red alert on the health advisory system. Please see document below for details.
Please follow all guidelines when vising our Parks and trails by wearing your mask when you can not keep 6 ft of distance between you and others.

Office Updates:


Office open, but call in advance for appointment. Staff working at home and/or in field regularly. Please wear a mask when coming to office.



Due to recent restrictions on public gatherings the Pickaway County Park Board of Commissioners will NOT meet at our regular location for the Tuesday, July 28th board meeting. We will be moving the meeting to Canal Park. For more information please email ahartzler@pickawaycountyohio.gov



Update (6/2/2020) : Shelter Houses at all our parks are open but not for group gatherings greater than 10. Please follow all CDC guidelines. to reserve a shelter please contact [email protected] or the Park Offcie-at 740-420-5451.

Update ( April 29th 2020) : Logan Elm State Memorial Park is scheduled to reopen as of May 15th. All picnic tables and the shelter house will remain closed.We ask that you please follow all CDC guidelines for hand-washing and social distancing while visiting our facilities!


Due to the recent CDC recommendations for large group gatherings The Park District, RPHF Solid Waste District and Pickaway Soil and Water Conservation District has decided to reschedule the Composting workshop originally scheduled for the 27th of April to the 3rd of August. This workshop will be same location and same time.
