In 2019 the District was awarded a $10,000 grant from DuPont’s Clear Into The Future Grant. With this money the District was able to create over an acre of pollinator habitat at Canal Park. This spaces provides much needed habitat for birds, butterflies, bees and other insects. With the rest of the money from the DuPont Grant the District was also able to create a 9-Element plan for the Lick Creek- Scioto River watersheds. This plan helps the District better protect these watersheds and will give the Park District opportunities to go after additional grant funding to accomplish other needed projects like removing the low head dam in the river at Canal Park that poses a significant safety hazard to boaters in the Scioto River.
